About
AUTO3DSRE was created from the idea behind the Automotive 3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering community: a focused place for automotive 3D scanning, CAD reconstruction, reverse engineering, and part reproduction.
The goal is simple: to document real automotive projects where physical parts are captured with 3D scanning, converted into usable digital geometry, and sometimes taken all the way to a manufactured replacement part.
Many of the projects featured here are based on hard-to-find, discontinued, damaged, or no-longer-available parts. Instead of relying only on scrapyards, old stock, or back-ordered parts that may never arrive, 3D scanning and reverse engineering give us another option: preserve, recreate, improve, or reproduce the part digitally.
AUTO3DSRE is a curated showcase, not just a file dump. Each project may include different stages of the process, from raw scan data and mesh cleanup to CAD modelling, measurements, prototypes, or final manufactured parts.
Projects are selected from the Automotive 3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering Facebook group, or shared directly by the people involved in maintaining this site.
Every project credits its author. Click on any author's name to see more of their scanned and reverse-engineered automotive work.
